Music Together Puxi

Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music program for infants,
toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and the adults who love them. First offered to the public in 1987,
it pioneered the concept
of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement. Music Together classes are based on the recognition that all children are musical.
Our Teachers

All of our teachers are passionate about music and the development of children. They have been formally trained by the founders of Music Together®, based in Princeton, New Jersey. They are fully apprenticed licensed Music Together teachers.

They create a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's musical development. Parents and caretakers will learn about the theories which underlie Music Together's curriculum from our teachers and can seek further personalized feedback on their child's particular musical development.

Julie Wu rediscovered a love of making music while taking parent-child music classes with her older daughter, Isabella, in the San Francisco Bay area. After connecting with Music Together in Shanghai and finding again the sheer enjoyment of playing with music and children, Julie is thrilled to find herself teaching Music Together.

In her life before motherhood, Julie previously spent several years – what her parents call the “lost years” – in Hollywood, acting and singing and mostly auditioning. Her stage and television credits include roles in “Frasier”, “Beverly Hills 90210”, and “The King and I”. She ultimately left the performing arts to lead a sedate life in corporate finance, and is now happy to be at home with her two girls.

Growing up within a traditional Korean household, Julie was quite shy and reserved. It was only through her experience in the performing arts that she discovered the freedom and joy in play and creative expression. It’s that joy that she hopes to share with other families as a Music Together instructor.

photo Lynne Moo

Lynne Moo has been an amateur music maker since she tagged along to her brother's piano lessons when she was 5 years old. Ever since, she has been playing scales, singing to her stuffed animals and eventually with her children. She is a classically trained pianist, has played the bass clarinet and trombone in community bands, and has sung in college and community choirs.

Lynne joined Music Together with her youngest daughter after watching Lori Carbonneau teach at The Wonder Center, her oldest daughter's preschool. She enjoyed the music, but was also inspired by what Lori taught the parents and how well she kept each child's attention. In December 2008, Lynne successfully completed her training with Music Together founder Ken Guilmartin . She and her daughters didn't want to face the Shanghai Summer without any music classes, and so she will begin her professional music career this summer.
