Our weekly, 45-minute classes,  for 6 - 12 children and their parent or caregiver, include songs, rhythm chants, movement, and instrument play. These activities are presented as informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences--developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers--regardless of their own musical ability or native language. Two CDs and a Songbook with the current term's music selections are included.

The songs are presented through a variety of musical activities which incorporate....
-- Fun playful, interactive ways to focus on tonal and rhythmic elements of music
-- Small and large movement
-- Free, expressive dance
-- Instrumental accompaniment (egg shakers, jingle bells, sticks, rhythm instruments, etc)
-- Use of props (scarves, balls, etc.)
-- Opportunities for improvisation by children as well as parents

Classes have a characteristic flow which allows for various ages to all participate and make Music Together^®, each at his own level. Certain rituals, such as the Hello Song at the beginning, and the sequence of Instrumental Jam Session, Lullaby, and Goodbye Song, at the end of class, help children internally pace their involvement and aid in classroom management.

Parent education during class will increase your understanding of the relevance of class activities to childhood music development.

Tuition for the 8-week term is 1250 rmb for one child, and 800 rmb for additional siblings and includes the music for the term.

Winter 2012 semester schedule is now available below.  The semester will start the week of February 5th, 2012, following the Chinese New Year holidays.  The semester will run for 8 weeks, plus an extra "makeup/bonus" week of classes, with classes finishing in the first week of April.
